Lebanese Street Kids Ad

You should have heard of that advertisement being shown on the streets and possibly started on television which highlights the issue of kids on the streets. I bet you're going about saying "Well, what the hell is wrong with that?"

Well, I'll fucking tell you what's wrong with that. This is a direct extract from the group's page:

" We are a group of students from 2nd of the "Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour" and tackle the central theme of our social project: The street kids in Lebanon. Our goal is to educate the Lebanese to make them conscience plight of these street children. Indeed, we cooperate with the Ministry of Social Affairs, which will help us to pass a televised advertisement on all local channels beginning May directed by Tina Zaccour!
This PSA will pass the message of the importance of childhood. As the billboards will be placed on the streets offered by "PIKASSO" and "GROUP PLUS." Our project does not end here. We need you dear Lebanese grant us your support by Joining our group on facebook and Inviting your friends.
Professional two lawyers involved with us in this project and soon we will propose new sections of the law on street children (Lebanese and non-Lebanese).
It only takes a small gesture for a great solidarity.
Thank you very much. "

All nice and well, but they're just advertising/showing the Lebanese public some rich kid with tattered pants in an advertisement for which they could have used that money to actually directly help some starving families.

As I said, they're just literally showing the viewers a kid in tatters, as if they do not see that everyday on the streets, as if a mere advertisement would help starving families with no homes. We ARE ALL AWARE (Read that slowly, people: WE ARE A-L-L R-E-A-D-Y A-W-A-R-E) of these kids, we do not need more attention-grabbing, what we need is some actual aid for those children be it that food you puke, clothes you throw away, or the money you use to buy your new papi-mami I-Phone 3GS which you will surely replace after the new one comes out.

Those kids cannot benefit from a mere ad, nor will a law prohibiting children from working/begging on the streets do them any good, in fact, it would be even worse.

This dramatic and pathetic project is a failure however way you turn it around, if you really want to help the poor, stop this excuse for aid and start helping them directly instead.

" PLZ join this group we need
50 000 lebanese people and we could change an article about lebanese street kids !join for a better lebanon... "

Oh shi- they need 50,000 Lebanese people to change the way things are! Omfg! If you join a useless group that promotes attention-grabbing over direct action then I'm sorry to tell you that you're changing nothing. The only apparent reason they need 50,000 Lebanese people is to get an A+ on their petty project, to get fame, and to spread their "hbbbbbb (K)(K) gdddd workkkk!!!!! :$ :$"

Good night.
